I’d do a little shopping for a good quality hosting company again just Google hosting companies and you will see many to choose from.

Once you sign up they will send you a email containing all the information you need to get started. I would not loose this email because it is very important to your success. Now you have your domain name and you hosting company what next?

You are now ready to actually design your first website. To make an internet site. you actually design your web pages on your computer you are using now. To style a web site page you require what is called a web editor. This is the piece of software that converts text and content into computer language that a hosting company will understand. There are lots of different web editors. Text editors range in price from free to several hundred dollars. I use a free version and it does very well for myself called Kompozer just go to the website and download it for free. The software comes in zip form so just unzip it and install on your desktop. Upon having installed the software double click the icon and the program will start. I’d suggest you fully familiarize the program by clicking the various icons.

Here is really a tip for you. I would create a file on your desktop to keep all your files in so you have them in all the same place so they don’t get lost in your computer, you can waste a good amount of time looking for pages you created. To make a folder on your desktop you right click your mouse then go to new and finally folder. You may name this folder whatever you want but I would call it something related to the website you will design.

One element I think is important to mention is your mindset. Learning something new can be difficult for some, you may experience information overload. When making a website just take one step at a time and before you know it, you will be done. Once your site is built it is yours to do with what you want.

Though I have installed a wordpress, installed themes, worked on countless php projects, but I was stuck with making a choice.

a) I go out there and find a cool looking theme which will NOT match my website but will look good.

b) Believe in myself and start creating a new skin myself.

I chose the later one. And I was able to create a skin for my blog from the html template that i had. And it just took me 2 hours to do that.

I believe that if you are connecting a blog with your website, the best thing to do is to match its theme with your website. Its worth it.
